County Committee Members

The South Carolina Libertarian Party reorganizes during every general election year, traditionally in March. First, precincts are organized.   The precinct conventions for 2004 will be held on Saturday, March 13 and the Charleston County Courthouse.  Each organized precinct selects a representative to the County Committee and chooses delegates for the County Convention. The County Convention elects the officers for the Charleston County Libertarian Party and selects nominees for public office. The County Convention also chooses delegates to the State Convention.

Candidates for Public Office in Charleston County

Candidates seeking public office as a Libertarian in Charleston County must file for office during the filing period.  While state law changes from time to time, this currently occurs during March of general election years. Candidates who have filed then seek the CCLP nomination at the County Convention.

The Libertarian Party has run candidates for Charleston County Council in the past.   Barry Dively won 12% in a two-way race in 2000. Rodney Travis received about 17% of the vote in a two-way race in 1998. John Graham Altman IV received approximately 13% of the vote in a three-way race in 1994.
