New non-profit sites no longer being accepted.

From 1995 until the fall of 2002, Charleston.Net was in the business of hosting Web sites for businesses in the Lowcountry. As part of our Web hosting business, and as a service to the community, we offered free Web hosting space to non-profit groups.
In the fall of 2002, we stopped accepting new Web hosting business. We also stopped offering free Web hosting to new non-profit groups, but we did not "pull the plug" on those groups that had already established their free Web sites.
Several groups continue to be hosted by Charleston.Net. We will not discontinue serving those groups, but we are not accepting any new non-profit groups and we encourage those who are still hosted by Charleston.Net to find alternative Web hosting services.

How to submit a page:

  1. Pages must contain no more than 5 MB of data, including graphics. The home page should be named "index.html" and any links on your other pages should refer to index.html as the home page for your site.
  2. All LINKS internal to your site must have the .html extension. If you are creating your pages on a Windows platform incapable of four-letter file extensions, we will rename your files to HTML files after you submit them, but we will not go inside each HTML document and rename links inside those documents.
  3. Send your pages as an archive in the WinZIP or PKZIP format to macdougd@postandcourier.com.
  4. It may be several days before your pages appear on the web. The URL for your home page will most likely follow the following format:

    http://www.charleston.net/org/groupname/

Before publicizing your organization's home page, log in and make sure it is working satisfactorily. If you want to make changes, submit your changed or new HTML documents or images as an archive. If you are changing only one page or image, you may send it as a file attachment. The changes will be placed on the web server as soon as time allows.
